The Rams debut of the new SoFi went successful, defeating the Cowboys 20-17. Their new running back by committee approach was pretty successful as well, rushing for 124 yards between their three running backs. Malcom Brown led the way with 79 yards and two touchdowns, while Cam Akers rushed for 39 yards on 13 attempts.
Jared Goff threw for just 275 yards and an interception but completed 70% of his passes on the night. Six of those completions went to Robert Woods, who led the team with 105 receiving yards as well. Woods wasn’t the only receiver with a great game though. Amari Cooper caught 10 of his 14 targets for 84 yards, and CeeDee Lamb caught five of his six targets for 59 yards in his NFL debut.
Ezekiel Elliott had the best performance of the night, regardless of who won the match up. Elliott rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown while also adding 31 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. He would be the only Cowboy to reach the end-zone Sunday night.
Dak Prescott finished with a mild 266 passing yards and a touchdown while completing 25 of his 39 pass attempts. He also added 30 yards on the ground including a big 12 yard scramble to help Dallas keep their drive alive with under a minute left.
After all the hype behind the Dallas Cowboys additions this offseason, the team fell flat Sunday night vs the Los Angeles Rams. Dallas attempted a 4th quarter comeback with less than 3 minutes left to play, but ultimately fell short. A questionable pass interference call erased a 47-yard completion to Michael Gallup which would have out the Cowboys in a great position to at least tie the game.
The injuries are starting to pile up in Dallas as well. Starting tight end Blake Jarwin went down with a torn ACL, and their starting center Cameron Erving was placed on IR with an MCL injury. Erving will be available to return after Week 3. Their Pro Bowl linebacker, Leighton Vander Esch, suffered a fractured collarbone which will sideline him 6-8 weeks.
