Super Bowl LV, one of the most anticipated Super Bowls in recent memory, got under way in Tampa Bay Florida. For the first time ever the hosting city’s team had made it to the big game. Tom Brady was looking for his seventh ring in his amazing career, and a possible storybook ending.
Tampa Bay started the game off with the ball but quickly gave the ball to the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes came out slinging the ball as usual, and would find the first points of the night on a 49-yard field goal. Tom Brady and the Buccaneers took a little to get warmed up, but would score the first touchdown of the night.
The second quarter was a lot slower. While the Chiefs looked like they were getting they’re offense together, they ended up stalling inside the Bucs 30-yard line. After knocking down a 34-yard field goal, Tampa Bay would extend their lead even further with a touchdown pass to Antonio Brown.
Antoine Winfield and Devin White both came down with interceptions. After Tyreek Hill shredded them in their first meeting it was obvious Tampa Bay wasn’t going to let that happen again. Hill was held to a quiet 7 catches for 73 yards and was a non factor the entire game.
Tom Brady would finish the game with 201 passing yards and three touchdowns. Leonard Fournette had 135 total yards and a rushing touchdown, and Rob Gronkowski had two touchdown catches. Patrick Mahomes finished with 270 passing yards and two interceptions on the night. Travis Kelce was the only Chief that could get anything going tonight and had 10 catches for 133 yards.
This is now Brady’s 7th Super Bowl win, and becomes the second starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl with two different franchises. He also became the first starting quarterback to win Super Bowl MVPs with two different teams. Bruce Arians is now the oldest head coach to win a Super Bowl at 68 year olds, and capture the first of his career.
