It isn’t often we talk about the University of Kansas on this page so I am happy to say that Jayhawk fans received some great news Sunday evening. Three-star cornerback Jalon Peoples announced that he would be committing to the University of Kansas via social media. If his commitment sticks this would be the Jayhawks 19th highest rated recruit ever for their football program.
Jalon Peoples is a 6’0, 175-pound cornerback out of Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill, Texas. He was an extremely high priority for the Jayhawks, and had offers from 30 different schools. During the month of June he took visits to Iowa, Texas Tech, Baylor and Kansas before making his decision Sunday evening. Coaches Chevis Jackson and Emmett Jones were the lead recruits for Jalon, and made him feel like a high priority for the program.
Peoples was one of the first recruits to visit the campus since Lance Leipold became head coach. He gives the Jayhawks a talented young piece for new defensive coordinator Brian Borland to mold. Former starting cornerback Karon Prunty announced he would be transferring to South Carolina which should give Peoples an even greater opportunity to shine early.
The Jayhawks now have five commitments in the 2022 recruiting cycle, Peoples being the highest rated of the group. He joins defensive backs Duwan Mack & Jacobe Chester on the list of defensive commits for Kansas.
