Fresh off their Elite 8 basketball the focus now shifts back to the football team. Earlier Friday afternoon three-star outside linebacker Kaleb Brown announced that he will be committing to the University of Houston. This marks the second commitment for the Cougars in their 2022 recruiting class.
Kaleb Brown is a 6’0, 190-pound three-star outside linebacker for Del Valle High School. Brown is a dual-sport athlete playing football and basketball for the Cardinals. Last season Del Valle had a down year and finished 3-6 but Brown finished the season with 103 total tackles and 2 INTs. This was largely in part to losing 2022’s No. 4 wide receiver and five-star prospect Caleb Burton during the first game of the year.
He held offers from schools like Boise State, SMU and Iowa State. The Cougars ultimately won the Austin product over and will travel 2 hours down south to Houston. As of Friday Houston has the 3rd ranked recruiting class in the AAC.
Del Valle High School has recently gone through a head coaching change this offseason. Old head coach Charles Burton stepped down from his position last March. Recently Del Valle hired Bobby Acosta, who last was with IMG Academy, to fill the role as head coach.
