Mike Gundy picked up his second North Texas prospect in February Friday night. Just two weeks ago we saw Euless Trinity running back Ollie Gordon commit to Oklahoma State. Now they have added Garret Rangel from Frisco Lonestar High School.
Garret Rangel is a three-star quarterback that plays football for Frisco Lone Star High School. Rangel helped the Rangers to a 7-4 season this year and threw for 2,422 yards and 27 touchdowns. He currently has 10 offers which includes schools like Utah, Houston, and Virginia Tech. The Pokes extended their offer before Rangel’s stellar junior campaign this year.
In Oklahoma State’s 2021 recruiting class they did not bring in a quarterback. Currently they have quarterbacks Spencer Sanders, Shane Ellingsworth, Peyton Thompson and Shaun Taylor. Even though they didn’t snag a quarterback they were still able to put together the third best class in the Big-12.
The Pokes have taken a lot of North Texas talent in recent years. Current starting quarterback Spencer Sanders was a four-star quarterback at Denton Ryan High School. Jaden Nixon committed to Oklahoma State in 2021 and is teammates with Garret Rangel at Lonestar High School. Joining Nixon is Allen High School’s Bryson and Blaine Green who both committed to Oklahoma State too. Currently the Cowboys 2022 recruiting class is No. 9 in the nation and 2nd in the Big-12.
