Notre Dame has landed its future signal caller for it’s ‘22 class. Steve Angeli was one of the first ‘22 prospects Notre Dame offered and has been considering the school for a long time now. He has a lot of family ties with the Fighting Irish and has been favorited to land there because of it. Thursday night the three-star quarterback made it official and announced his commitment via Twitter.
As mentioned Steve Angeli has a few family ties to Notre Dame. His great uncle was Notre Dame great Pete Berezney who won a national championship with the Fighting Irish in 1943. His brother Nick played little league football with Quenton Nelson, and was coached by Nelson’s father. Nick also played high school ball with former Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush. Both players were always around Angeli and are another big reason why he is so comfortable with the school.
Angeli is 16th best pro-style quarterback in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of New Jersey. He plays for Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey where they went 5-1 last season. Ohio State was the first school to offer him his sophomore year, and has since received 23 scholarship offers. LSU, Michigan, and Oregon were also a few of the schools that offered the Oradell native.
The Fighting Irish now have eight commits in the boat for 2022. It is currently the No. 7 recruiting class this season being lead by four-star edge rusher Tyson Ford. Four-star offensive tackles Joey Tanona and Ty Chan look to be the next offensive linemen that Notre Dame pushes to the NFL.
