Boston College has been putting in a lot of work into this 2022 recruiting cycle with 18 commits already. Monday evening earned them their 19th of the class with three-star tight end R.J Maryland announced his commitment to the Eagles.
R.J Maryland is a 6’4, 210-pound tight end out of Southlake, Texas. His father, Russell Maryland, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1991 NFL Draft and played 10 seasons in the NFL. He plays for Southlake Carroll High School alongside ‘22 recruits like Quinn Ewers, Avyonne Jones, and Landon Samson.
The Dragons went 12-2 on their way to a 6A D-I State Championship appearance against Austin Westlake. Unfortnately for R.J they would go on to lose against Westlake 52-34. Last season Maryland came down with 30 catches for 736 yards and 13 touchdowns. According to 247Sports he has 24 offers and visited the University of Miami (FL) on June 18th (His fathers Alma Mater).
As I said earlier this is the Eagles 19th commitment in the Class of ‘22. More impressive is this their fifth commitment this week and eighth in the month of June. R.J. Maryland is currently Boston College’s fifth highest rated recruit in the class and joins prospects like Peter Delaportas, and Joseph Griffin Jr. They currently have the No. 2 recruiting class in the ACC right behind Florida State.
