The Oregon State Beavers have plucked out another prospect from the state of Texas for their 2023 recruiting class. This is now the second commitment from Texas, along with Jalen O’Neal, a defensive back out of Manvel High School. Thursday night at the TrueBuzz Media Day Montrel Hatten announced he would be committing to Oregon State over Arkansas and TCU.
Montreal Hatten is a three-star wide receiver for Texas power house Carthage High School. He comes in at 6’0, 179-lbs and is a Top-85 player in Texas according to On3. Schools like Baylor, Ole Miss, Arkansas and more have all offered Hatten to come play but it actually happened to be the furthest school from home that would win him over.
This now gives Oregon State 14 commitments for their 2023 recruiting class, a handful coming in July. Hatten is the fourth wide receiver in the class to go with two tight ends as well. Currently 247Sports has them as the 53rd overall class, and the 8th in the Pac-12. They currently sit right under Pac-12 schools like Utah & Colorado in the rankings.
At the beginning of July four-star defensive lineman Kelze Howard announced his commitment to the Beavers. This would make him the 10th highest recruit in Oregon State’s history if he sticks to his commitment. With that being said things are looking good thus far for Oregon State as they look to continue to make a jump up the recruiting rankings.
