After landing four-star defensive lineman Jamari Lyons last week the Gators are back adding to their 2022 recruiting class. Dan Mullen would land yet another in-state prospect this time on the offensive side of the ball. Four-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson announced his commitment to the University of Florida Wednesday morning. He is now currently the second highest offensive recruit Florida has right behind quarterback Nick Evers.
Jayden Gibson is a four-star wide receiver out of Winter Garden, Florida located right outside Orlando. He plays football, basketball, and competes in track events for West Orange High School. Gibson currently stands 6’5, and weighs in at 185-pounds.
He has 37 offers on the table from schools like Georgia, Indiana, and Penn State but only took visits to Baylor and Miami (FL). His final list of schools included the Hurricanes and Baylor as well as South Carolina and Arkansas. Gibson said that he feels like Florida is a great place for him to grow on and off the field, as well as be apart of a winning culture. He said it is nice that the Florida Gators are already in a position to compete for championships, and not in the process of rebuilding.
Nick Evers already had weapons like Marcus Burke (‘21) and Terrance Gibbs (‘22) to work with but will be more than happy to add the 6’5 wide out. The Gators are also still very high on five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart’s short list of schools which would be a huge grab for them. Stewart and Evers were actually teammates on the same 7 on 7 team this past offseason which Gator’s fans hope will be enough to sway him over to Gainesville.
