The Denver Broncos have had one of the best off seasons in the NFL this year, but that just came to a screeching halt after Tuesday’s practice. ESPN’S Adam Schefter broke the news that their All-Pro outside linebacker, Von Miller, suffered an injury to a tendon in his ankle.
The injury will likely require surgery that would put an end to Miller’s 2020-21 campaign before it could even get started. Just 72 hours after the 2019 season ended, he was training for the 2020 season. Von Miller had been reportedly “reconstructing” himself this offseason and was prime for an explosive year.
Recently voted to the 2010’s All-Decade Team (unanimous might I add), it is obvious Von Miller is the leader of this Denver Broncos team. He is the franchise leader in sacks with 106, and the only Bronco with 100 sacks in their career.
Denver added Melvin Gordon through free agency, adding to an already strong running game, as well as having one of the best draft hauls from the 2020 NFL Draft. Bradley Chubb is set to come back from his season ending ACL injury last year. Drew Lock has been getting comparisons to Elway, and is going into the season with his confidence at an all time high. Things were all pointing in the right direction for the Broncos to take major steps this year.
They will now look to Jeremiah Attacochu and 2019 UDFA, Malik Reed, to make up for the tremendous loss. They each had 3.5 and two sacks respectively.
