Five-Star DL Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy Commits to the Oklahoma Sooners

Today was a huge day for Oklahoma fans as five-star defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy made his commitment. The Florida native announced at the beginning of October that he will be deciding between Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Tuesday afternoon he announced he would be committing to the University of Oklahoma.

Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy is a five-star defensive lineman from Lakeland, Florida. He plays for Lakeland High School where he also competes in discus and shot put. 247Sports has him as the No. 2 player in the state of Florida and the 10th overall prospect in the Class of 2022. Dindy is also currently the 10th highest rated recruit to commit to Oklahoma since 247Sports started rating recruits.

As you would expect he had offers from all of the power-five schools you could think of. Back in January he dropped a top-eleven schools list featuring names like Nebraska, Florida, Pittsburgh, USC, Clemson, LSU and Ohio State. Last week however he narrowed that list down to two schools. Texas A&M & Oklahoma.

Oklahoma has slowly and quietly been building a pretty solid list of defensive recruits. Clayton Smith and Billy Bowman are two very talented prospects they landed last year along with Latrell McCutchin. Gabriel will pair up with Derrick Moore and provide a lot of versatility across the interior defensive line.

Of course their 2022 class is also packed with offensive talent too. Running backs Raleek Brown and Gavin Sawchuk headline the offensive side of the ball for Oklahoma. Both should see quite a few snaps early in their careers as the Sooners will be paper thin at the running back position after this season. They have lost commits from all their wide receivers including guys like Jordan Hudson, and Luther Burden. In their ‘23 recruiting class however they have more than made up for that by already landing three five-star wide receivers.
