Ohio State had plenty of potential to be one of the best recruiting classes ever put together, but it is now the Crimson Tide who could pull off such a feat. The University of Alabama gained the commitment of its 4th 5-star prospect in Ga’Quincy McKinstry Sunday afternoon.
Nick Saban has been back in his bag this recruiting cycle, landing the No. 1 player in the state of Texas, Michigan, Florida and of course Alabama. McKinstry joins a stacked defensive recruiting class featuring players like Damon Payne, Kendrick Blackshire, and Dallas Turner.
Schools like Florida, Georgia, Clemson, and Miami were just some of the 27 offers he has accumulated so far. His decision came down to Auburn, LSU, and Alabama.
He told CBS Sports he also attends to play on the Alabama basketball team too. Not only has he helped Pinson Valley High School to two state championships in football (‘17 & ‘18), but also two state championships in basketball too (‘18 & ’19).
Coming in at just under 6-foot, and 172-pounds, he carries a long, lean frame with great ball skills. McKinstry plays on both sides of the football, and Charles Power from 247Sports says he would have been a top prospect as a receiver as well.
