Duncanville’s Kendrick Blackshire Commits to the University of Alabama

Not even two weeks after the Crimson Tide received a commitment from the No. 2 WDE in the Class of 2021, Dallas Turner, they are back in the headlines landing another star player. This time Alabama crept into Big-12 territory and snatched the No. 7 inside linebacker in the Class of 2021, Kendrick Blackshire.

On Tuesday Kendrick Blackshire announced via Twitter he will be committing to the University of Alabama. His commitment pushes Alabama into the top 10 of the 247Sports recruiting rankings for the Class of 2021. The Duncanville product chose Bama over schools like LSU & Texas A&M.

Blackshire is already built for SEC football at 6’2, 245-pounds. He missed his junior season due to an ACL injury, but was a very impressive player as a freshman and sophomore. Before moving to Duncanville, Blackshire played at Mesquite Horn.

He credited Nick Saban‘s coaching ability, and their training staff as big reasons why he committed to the university. Getting his knee right and ready to go for college football was something he felt the Crimson Tide could do best.

“I feel like their training staff, that alone, will get my knee prepared for whatever I need to do in college. Just get prepared for the game. That’s a real strong reason why I chose Alabama because of their training staff and Nick Saban”

Since Blackshire missed his junior season due to injury, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him rise up the rankings if we have football in 2020. Duncanville is a Texas power house and will get plenty of attention this upcoming season. The Panthers went 15-1 last season, losing in the 6A-Division I State Championship Game
