'28 QB Trey Wright Picks Up USC Offer | A New Front Runner???

It’s no secret that USC has one of the most prestigious lineages of quarterbacks in all of college football, so when they come knocking, you answer the door 10 times out of 10. Last year they only extended an offer to two quarterbacks, and just extended their first QB offer in the 2028 cycle.

Frisco Lone Star junior, Trey Wright received an offer late Saturday evening along with one from the Colorado Buffalos. Despite just recently announcing his Top-12 schools, this USC offer has immediately changed the young QB’s recruitment as he already has made plans to visit for a home game early in the year.

Wright said “it’s a huge honor” to be Lincoln Riley’s first quarterback offer in his class, and “…having an opportunity to play for him (Coach Riley) & represent a program like USC is really special.”

As for the fit? I believe it would be a match made in heaven. Wright is fresh off a sophomore season where he led the nation in total yards (over 5,800) while leading his team to a state title game in his sophomore year. Many have compared Trey to Kyler Murray due to his ability to make something out of nothing & extend plays with his legs. Pair that with an offensive mind like Lincoln Riley and things could get very scary for Big-Ten defenses.

Schools like Oregon, Clemson, TCU & SMU have all been heavily recruiting the Frisco native, but with Clemson taking Trace Hawkins out of Georgia, the Trojans have taken the opportunity to swoop in and steal another recruit out of Texas. It’s also a fair point to mention that when USC has decided to extend an offer at the quarterback position; they have done intense research on the recruit not just as a player but also as a culture fit as well. In the entire class Riley really only saw three QBs he’d want to pursue in the 2028 class so don’t be surprised if this is truly the only quarterback they single in on in this cycle.

While we still have a long way till the 2028 signing day, it’s safe to say things are heating up quickly for one of the cycle’s top quarterbacks.
