Five-Star A’mir Sears Commits to Miami | Another Massive 2027 Recruiting Win for Miami

The Miami Hurricanes have landed another massive commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle, as five-star athlete A’mir Sears has officially committed to Miami. Sears chose the Hurricanes over a loaded group of finalists that included LSU, Michigan and Texas A&M, giving Mario Cristobal another elite in-state prospect and adding one of the most talented players in the country to an already impressive class.
Sears was originally considered one of the top prospects in the 2028 class before making the decision to reclassify into 2027. The 6’1″, 165-lb standout is currently ranked among the nation’s Top 25 overall prospects and is considered the No. 1 athlete in the class by 247Sports. His versatility is what makes him so intriguing, as Sears has proven capable of making an impact on both sides of the football.
During his sophomore season at West Broward, Sears showcased that two way ability in a major way. He recorded 61 tackles, 11 pass breakups and three interceptions on defense while also catching 49 passes for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense. He is expected to focus primarily on cornerback at the next level, but his offensive ability gives Miami another potential weapon if the Hurricanes decide to utilize him in multiple ways.

 

For Miami, this commitment is about much more than adding another highly rated recruit. Sears is a local South Florida product who will continue his high school career at Christopher Columbus High School, Mario Cristobal’s alma mater. Keeping a player of his caliber at home is another major recruiting victory for the Hurricanes as they continue trying to build a recruiting stronghold in one of the most talent-rich areas of the country.
Sears now becomes one of the biggest pieces of Miami’s 2027 recruiting class and another sign that Cristobal’s staff is making serious progress on the recruiting trail. With elite athleticism, experience on both sides of the ball and the ability to develop into a difference maker at cornerback, Sears has the potential to become one of the faces of this recruiting class.
