There are still a handful of 5-star prospects from the Class of 2021 still looking to commit to a new home, but Amarius Mims is one of the Top 8 players in the country.

Mims is the top rated prospect in the state of Georgia, the No. 2 overall offensive tackle, and the 8th overall best player in the Class of 2021. The Cochran, Georgia native already has a grown man frame, standing 6’7, 315 Lbs and attends Bleckley County High School.

On April 1st, Amarius Mims released his top-10 schools, and said Alabama is his current leader of the pack. The list also included Tennessee, Florida, Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida State, Auburn, LSU, Clemson and Georgia. Pretty much all the schools outside his top five were schools that he had yet to visit with in person.

Wednesday, at 12 PM on the dot, Mims narrowed that list down to his Top 6 schools. It was an SEC dominant list with Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Georgia all being contenders; along with Florida State and Oklahoma listed too.

“These are my top schools because of the relationship I have with the coaches, and the location.”

Recruiting Analyst for Rivals.com, Chad Simmons, spoke with Mims more about what he is considering most when deciding where to attend college.

“I want to get on the field, I want to fit in, and I am going to pick the school that I feel is the best fit for me.”

Wherever Mims elects to attend in August, he could have a big impact on the current recruiting rankings. If he commits to Tennessee this would most likely send the Vols past North Carolina for the No. 2 overall recruiting of 2021.

Schools like Georgia, Alabama, and Oklahoma could sneak into the top-10 with the commitment of Amarius Mims. Schools like Auburn and Florida State could really use the late push as both of them have yet to land a 5-star prospect this year.

Check back August 15th to see where the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation will be attending college.
