Coppell High School STUNS Lewisville High School 49-28

It’s Week 5 down in Texas and we already have crazy match ups all over the state. Tonight we are in Coppell, Texas at Buddy Echols Field to watch the Coppell Cowboys host the Lewisville Fighting Farmers. Lewisville is one of the most talented teams in Texas High School football and has beaten Coppell the past FIVE years.. The Cowboys have a lot of talent themselves though including senior wideout Baron Tipton who is committed to UNT and senior cornerback Zach Cody who is committed to Coastal Carolina.
Coppell would get things started off but it was Lewisville that would end up scoring first as Viron Ellison II would take a run over 50 yards to the house. Coppell would come back swinging however and rush down the field themselves. After getting inside the redzone, junior quarterback Edward Griffin threw a strike to Tucker Cusano to tie the game.
After failing to do anything on their next drive, Lewisville was forced to punt and go back on defense. The 2nd quarter would start with the game tied 7-7, but Coppell would quickly shift the momentum in this game. A couple pass interference calls really hurt the Farmers, and gave Coppell the ball right at the goalline. Xavier Mosley punched in the ball the next play to start off a huge night for the senior running back.
The Cowboys defense started to get in on the action too. Junior safety Matthew Neitzel would come up with a big sack on Ethan Terrell to force Lewisville to punt once again. Not long after that Neitzel would come up with an even bigger play taking an interception back to the crib for a pick-six. Before you knew it, the score was 35-7 Coppell going into halftime.
Lewisville would wake up in the 2nd half though, especially thanks to Viron Ellison II going absolutely bonkers. The Tulsa commit would finish the game with over 230 yards of offense, and 4 touchdowns. He was over 67% of Lewisivlle’s total offense for the entire game. Coppell’s offense would stagnate a little bit, but still found a way to finish with a 49-28 victory, breaking their losing streak to Lewisiville.
Coppell had a pair of running back finish with great stat lines as well. Senior running back Xavier Mosley finished with just over 100 total yards and FOUR touchdowns while junior running back Omarion Mbakwe put up 147 total yards on the night.
Coppell remains undefeated at 5-0 while the Fighting Farmers move to 3-2 on the season. Next week the Cowboys hope to keep their hot streak going and take on the Marcus Marauders and Lewisivlle looks to get back on their feet against Plano West.
