The University of Miami has been one of the hottest teams on the recruiting trail as of late. They just recently landed five-stars Jaden Rashada, and Francis Mauigoa and they aren’t done yet. Five-star athlete Jayden Wayne announced earlier Saturday evening that he will be joining the Miami Hurricanes ‘23 recruiting class.
Jayden Wayne is a five-star edge rusher for IMG Academy down in Bradenton, Florida. He is originally from Tacoma, Washington where he played at Lincoln High School before transferring this offseason. Over 40 schools have offered him to play, some even as a tight end, but settled on six schools on the 1st. Alabama, Oregon, Georgia, LSU, Michigan St. and of course Miami were those final schools. Wayne not only is a dual-position athlete, he also is a dual-sport athlete as he played basketball back at Lincoln High School as well.
Mario Cristobal was the first coach to offer Wayne all the way back in his 8th grade summer. With that being said it is no surprise that the Hurricanes were able to land the No. 5 edge rusher in the nation. This jumps the Hurricanes class into the Top-10 for the 2023 recruiting cycle.
With Jaden Rashada, Francis Mauigoa, Riley Williams and now Jayden Wayne; Mario Cristobal has proven he can recruit wherever he wants. Riley Williams is another prospect who just recently transferred to IMG Academy, and was the No. 1 player in Oregon. Jayden Wayne was the No. 1 player in the state of Washington before transferring to IMG. Jaden Rashada is arguably the best quarterback in the Class of 2023 even with names like Malachi Nelson and Arch Manning in the mix. It is safe to say that the Hurricanes are in full swing again with Mario Cristobal at the helm.
