The Louisville Cardinals football program has gone through a lot of shifting recently, and it looks to now have taken a toll on the recruiting class as well. Earlier Wednesday evening five-star running back Rueben Owens announced that he would be decommitting from Louisville. This comes just days after Scott Satterfeild announced he would be taking the University of Cincinnati job.
On top of decommitting from the Cardinals, Owens already announced his new home shortly after via Instagram. The El Campo native announced he now will be committed to the Texas A&M Aggies and join their 24th ranked recruiting class. He joins in-state stars David Hicks, Bravion Rogers, T.J. Shanahan & more in the Aggies ‘23 recruiting class. With Owens commitment it now raises the Aggies ’23 class up to 18th in the nation right behind Florida State.
Reuben Owens is the No. 2 running back in the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports, and the No. 5 player in Texas. According to some he is THE top running back in the nation and is without a doubt one of the freakiest athletes in 2023. Not only has he rushed for over 7,000 yards at El Campo High School, Owens could probably be a five-star wide receiver too if he chose to be.
This is obviously a huge commitment for Jimbo Fisher and A&M. With all the negative press coming with the transfer portal, and the rough season, I am sure Aggies nation is relieved at this news. Hopefully this will swing momentum back into Texas A&M’s favor going forward with recruiting.
Anthony Hill’s return anyone? 👀
