Texas Christian University continues its historic off-season. Ex-LSU LB, Marcel Brooks, is reportedly transferring to TCU and becomes the second 5-star to join the program in just three months.
Brooks, who was the No. 2 OLB in the class of 2019, entered the NCAA transfer portal on June 26th. He wanted to play closer to home, and being a native of Flower Mound, TX, TCU became an immediate front runner for his talents. He is 6’2, 194lbs, and played a linebacker/safety hybrid role with the Tigers in 2019.
TCU had 5-star running back Zach Evans commit back in May, and is the highest rated recruit to play for Texas Christian. With the transfer of Marcel Brooks, the Horned Frogs have now grabbed their two highest rated prospects to ever play for the University.
Marcel Brooks was the 3rd highest prospect in LSU’s 2019 recruiting class, and the 32nd ranked player in the entire class of 2019 according to 247Sports.
With the loss of Patrick Queen and Michael Divinity Jr to the NFL, Marcel Brooks was expected to compete for a starting linebacker role for the Tigers this season.
In his first season with the LSU Tigers, Brooks saw playing time in 11 games, including the National Championship vs Clemson. Brooks would finish his freshman season with eight tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
