Four-Star DL Jordan Renaud Picks the Crimson Tide over Oklahoma

The No. 1 overall recruiting class just got a little deeper Monday morning. Four-star defensive lineman Jordan Renaud announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide. This marks the first commitment in September for Alabama.

Jordan Renaud is a 6’3, 240-lb defensive lineman that can lineup wherever you ask along the defensive line. He plays for Tyler Legacy High School in Tyler, Texas where he also competed in track and field. Renaud’s long arms, speed and strength really give him a great chance to cause havoc off the edge in the future. He has over 25 offers but the two main schools in this race were Alabama and Oklahoma.

Alabama has always been the school to beat out in the Renaud sweepstakes if you ask me. Nick Saban was able to develop a great relationship with the Florida native and is someone Renaud speaks very highly of. He also credits Bama’s ability to not just win championships but also produce NFL talent year in and year out as something that impressed him greatly.

This now gives Bama their 19th commit with a four-star rating or higher in this cycle. They are currently the No. 1 class with a hefty cushion between them and 2nd place Texas. The teams in 2nd-7th are only separated by 1.5 points whereas Alabama has nearly a 15 point edge over 2nd place. With recruits like Jalen Hale, Keon Keeley, and Cormani McClain still considering the Tide; I think it will be very hard for Bama not to walk out with the No. 1 overall class once again.

Alabama already has defensive linemen Yhonzae Pierre & Hunter Osborne committed to their class, and could very well be landing the top edge rusher very soon too. Keon Keeley is reportedly extremely interested in Alabama and is currently favored to commit there.
