It has been a rather slow start to the LSU Tigers when it comes to their 2023 recruiting class. However, LSU just landed their highest rated recruit thus far Friday evening. Four-star edge rusher Jaxon Howard announced via CBS Sports HQ that he will be joining LSU.
Jaxon Howard is a four-star athlete who projects to play on the edge at the collegiate level. Howard is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and plays both tight end & defensive end for Robbinsdale Cooper High School. With being such a top level athlete on both sides of the ball it is no surprise that Jaxon holds 60 offers from all over the country.
On June 15th Howard shortened his list down to four schools, Michigan, Minnesota, Miami and LSU. All four schools seemed to have a very real shot at the star edge rusher. This is a huge win for Brian Kelly, being able to steal one of the Big-Ten’s top prospects from schools like Michigan and Minnesota.
The Tigers 2023 recruiting class has been very defensive heavy thus far. Along with Howard, LSU has commitments from four-star defensive backs Daylen Austin, Ryan Yaites, and Michael Daugherty. Brian Kelly and Co have also done a great job at securing talent from all over the country. With Howard’s commitment the Tigers now have commits from Minnesota, Texas, California, Georgia, Missouri and of course Louisiana.
