Four-Star OT Lucas Simmons Commits to Florida State Over Florida

Lucas Simmons

The Florida State Seminoles have had a rough few years when it comes to football. The performance has been down, and they have continuously lost out on big name recruits they should be landing. That could be changing with the commitment the Seminoles landed Monday afternoon. Four-star offensive tackle Lucas Simmons announced his commitment to Florida State via CBS Sports.

Lucas Simmons is a four-star offensive tackle that was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. He moved to the United States in 2021 and plays for Clearwater Academy International in Clearwater, Florida. He is already 6’7, 300-pounds and has been offered by over 35 schools. Simmons recently visited Florida, Tennessee, USC and Florida State back in June. Simmons has said he wanted to go into his senior season committed and focused on the season ahead.

Considering Tennessee, Florida and USC were all major contenders for Simmons, this win is ginormous. Last month they gained five of their 11 commits now with Simmons. They also recently picked up a commitment from Keldric Faulk last week. Both Faulk and Simmons commitments are some of the biggest that the Seminoles have landed since Mike Norvell arrived.

He is now the Seminoles No. 2 recruit for their 2023 class and bumped them up nine spots overall. Things are still a bit rocky in Tallahassee for sure especially after five-star cornerback Desmond Ricks seemingly blasted Norvell & Co about not recruiting him hard enough. Ricks just announced his top schools, leaving out FSU despite having a great connection with them early on. Nonetheless Florida State can hopefully start reeling in more in-state recruits with the momentum of Simmons commitment.
