IS TEXAS ACTUALLY BACK? | 5 ⭐️ Edge Colin Simmons Picks the Longhorns! 🤘

I hate to say it but, Steve Sarkisian is bringing Texas back.
Today, I want to talk about the Texas Longhorns landing the No. 1 edge rusher in this cycle, Colin Simmons.

Colin Simmons is the No. 1 recruit in the state and the No. 4 overall recruit in this cycle according to On3. He plays for Duncanville High School and is one of the most dominant edge rushers we’ve seen in quite some time coming out of high school.
Last season he record 79 tackles, 33 tackles for a loss and 22.5 sacks. Yes, 22.5 sacks. This helped Duncanville go 16-0, capturing their first state title since 1998. To make it even sweeter, it was against their state rivals, North Shore High School, who had beaten them the last three times they’ve met, all being for state titles.
Texas looked to have a strong lead on the Duncanville native, but after LSU’s Bayou Splash event Simmons left trending towards the Tigers. However once Simmons returned home and had time to think things over, turning down the opportunity to put on for his home state was too much to resist. He is currently the 7th best recruit Texas has ever landed, and the highest rated commit the Longhorns have landed this decade outside of Arch Manning!
If you are new to the page, I am actually a Dallas, Texas native and have gotten to see PLENTY of Colin over the past two seasons. As someone on the ground here in Texas, I think I am fit to emphasize just how big of a commitment this is for the University of Texas.
Texas has been desperate for so long to land an elite edge rusher like Colin Simmons. Despite landing some of the best talent, year in and year out, Texas has never really landed a “premier pass rusher”. You have to look back all the way to their 2006 class to find their last five-star edge rusher. Finally landing a talent like this could possibly be the moment we consider Steve Sarkisian bringing Texas back from the dead. The Longhorns will look to pair him up along with elite recruits like Anthony Hill Jr, Malik Muhammad, Jelani McDonald and more. Simmons also joins his teammate Alex Janaury, a three-star defensive lineman, who committed to Texas last month.
If Sark can build a pipeline to Duncanville High School, or more importantly the DFW as a whole, the Longhorns would be tapping into a market they haven’t had much success with in the past. On top of guys like Colin Simmons and Alex Janaury the Panthers have elite ’25 recruits like Dakorien Moore, the No. 1 player in next years cycle for Texas, and four-stars Keelon Russell, and Javion Holiday. Sark has done a good job landing guys like Johntay Cook, Anthony Hill Jr, and now Colin Simmons, and I am interested to see if that could be what the Longhorns have been missing for so long.
His commitment jumps the Longhorns up the recruiting class rankings once again as they now sit at 17th overall. With Kobe Black locking in his Top-5 recently, we could this class jump up again very soon. These are the recruits Texas needs to be a serious contender in the SEC once they are officially moved in. Last recruiting cycle we saw Texas finish with the 3rd best recruiting class in the nation, and it looks like Steve Sarkisian is trying to do that once again.
Do you the Longhorns will be able to finish with another Top-5 recruiting class this season?? Let me know in the comments!
