Just hours after reports on Chris Jones agreeing to terms on a long-term extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, Myles Garrett looks to be next in line for his pay day.

Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday afternoon that Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns are finalizing an extension worth $125 million over the next five seasons. The extension will include $50 million fully guaranteed, with $100 million in total guarantees.

Myles Garrett still has two years left remaining on his rookie contract, thus his five year extension will keep him in Cleveland through 2026. He is expected to sign this deal as early as Wednesday morning depending on his team physical taken on Tuesday.

For those who don’t want to do quick math, this extension puts his yearly pay at $25 million a season. This would make him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history, beating out Khalil Mack’s $23.5 million a season.

There is no question that Myles Garrett is one of the league’s best pass rushers. Garrett was the 1st overall pick back in the 2017 NFL Draft, and proved worthy of that selection so far. He has ranked 4th in sacks per game since entering the league in 2017, and has 30.5 sacks in just 37 NFL games.
