We had a nice change of pace to start our Week 7 as it was bright and sunny in Dallas, Texas. Our first game of the week features 4-1 South Oak Cliff High School & 2-3 Conrad High School.
South Oak Cliff would start out with the ball, and make quick work of the Chargers defense. Ke’Undrae Hollywood would burst out a 66-yard touchdown run on the second play of the night. Conrad would get a chance with the ball but go nowhere. An unnecessary roughness call would be the biggest boost in field position they would get.
The Bears would get the ball back and get right back to work. Senior quarterback Kevin Henry-Jennings would hit Ky Mathis to put SOC in the red zone. The next play Henry-Jennings would hit junior wide out Randy Reece for a 24-yard touchdown pass. South Oak Cliff quickly made the score 17-0 after recovering a Conrad fumble and kicking a field goal. The Bears wouldn’t even attempt to score after the turnover, electing to bring out their freshman kicker on 1st down. That would pretty much sum up how this game would go for the rest of the way.
Conrad’s offense would continue to struggle as South Oak Cliffs front seven caused mayhem for the Chargers offensive line. The Chargers would give the Bears offense the ball once again, and South Oak Cliff would begin to put their foot on Conrad’s neck. UNT commit Qualon Farrar broke off a 42-yard run to set up the Bears inside the redzone. Kevin Henry-Jennings would then connect with Rickey Evans for his second touchdown of the day.
Freshman quarterback Ladavian Frost-Harris had a very rough night all around. His offense line was doing him no favors, nor were his receivers. After muffing the snap Frost-Harris would toss a ball up in triple coverage and four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad would come down with the ball. Muhammad then took it back to the crib to extend South Oak Cliff’s lead to 31-0 points with 3:17 left in the half.
There wouldn’t be really much of anything that would happen in the second half. The clock was turned on to a continuous roll and South Oak Cliff would really just run the clock out. The Bears defense maintained pressure and shut out the Chargers offense for the second half as well. The final score on the night would read 38-0 and even that didn’t fully represent how lopsided this game was.
Be sure to check out our second game of Week 7 as the afootballaddict team is heading up north. We will be heading up to Choctaw, Oklahoma to see a rematch of last year’s state championship between Bixby High School & Choctaw High School.
