The New England Patriots & Bill Belichick Part Ways After 6 Super Bowl Rings

Just 24 hours after possibly the greatest head coach in college football, Nick Saban, announced his retirement from the University of Alabama we now have possibly the greatest head coach in NFL history parting ways with his own team. That is right, the New England Patriots & Bill Belichick have announced they have mutually parted ways and will be looking for a new head coach this off-season.

After 24 years with the team, owner Robert Kraft announced Thursday evening that the Patriots and Belichick agreed to “mutually part ways” after meeting the day prior.

I don’t think there is any question that Bill Belichick is the best head coach in the history of the NFL. Not only does he have the most Super Bowl wins, he also is fifth in Super Bowl losses, stating just how dominant his run was. He carries a record of 302-165 which gives him the third most wins by a head coach in the history of the NFL, and is 27 wins away from becoming the all time most winningest head coach in the NFL.

Belichick said he is excited for what is next, and he will always be a New England Patriot. I am sure there will be plenty of teams calling to set up interviews very soon, and Bill probably won’t be on the market for long.

As for the Patriots there are a lot of great names out there as potential head coach candidates. Names like Pete Carroll & Mike Vrabel immediately come to mind as they were both shockingly let go of their duties to the Seahawks & Titans respectively. Pete Carroll is also an all time great and the only head coach to win a BCS National Championship & a Super Bowl in the same career. Mike Vrabel not only got the Titans inches away from a Super Bowl, he played in many as a New England Patriot himself.

Only time will tell what happens next for New England but I am sure they will make an out of the box yet great move like always.
