The Auburn Tigers just landed their highest rated receiver recruit in over two decades!
I want to talk about the Auburn Tigers pulling off one of the biggest steals in school history flipping Perry Thompson from Alabama.
Perry Thompson is a five-star wide receiver for Foley High School which about an hour away from Mobile, Alabama. According to 247Sports Thompson is the No. 4 wide receiver in this cycle, the No. 2 recruit in Alabama AND a Top-15 recruit in the entire nation.
Coming in at 6’3, 202-pounds, Perry Thompson is already a physically imposing receiver, and has track speed to pair with that frame. He ran the 100M & 200M dash for Foley High School and plays basketball too. Last season Thompson recorded 87 catches for 1,059 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also clocked hitting over 20 MPH during a game last season.
Last summer we saw the five-star wide out announce his commitment to the Crimson Tide, but has visited Auburn six times now since making that decision. Auburn has done a great job making Thompson feel like family. They also have done a great job of selling Thompson on the legacy he can make here at Auburn, and the idea of playing much earlier than he would over in Tusculosa.
With all three of the projected starters for this season entering their last season of eligibility, grabbing a talent like Perry Thompson is exactly what the doctor ordered. The Tigers were also able to bring in former five-star wide receiver, Caleb Burton, through the transfer portal and should make a big impact for them as well.
