Dallas Carter Rolls By Wilmer-Hutchins in a 37-12 Win

In the final week of the regular season we headed down to Kincaide Stadium to see the Dallas Carter Cowboys host the Wilmer-Hutchins Eagles. There’s a lot of bad blood between these two teams and the winner of this game takes control of second place in the district.

After the coin toss the WIlmer-Hutchins Eagles would start off with the ball and immediately start feeding senior running back Jaco Cummings. However they wouldn’t be able to get too far down the field before having to punt. Camden Patterson and Kaeden Landry would get things rolling for the Cowboys helping them quickly bite off big chunks of yards. The drive would end in a 27-yard touchdown run from Landry to get Carter on the board first, they’d miss the extra point though.

Wilmer once again was unable to find any momentum in their offense and quickly gave the ball back to Dallas Carter. O’Ryan Wallace immediately made them pay taking a short slant route all the way for a 50-yard touchdown to extend their lead. O’Ryan Wallace got caught right before scoring and fumbled but Dallas Carter was able to pick up the fumble in the end zone resulting in a touchdown.

On their third drive the Eagles finally found a groove and were able to push the ball down the field. Jacob Cummings had a few big carries to help Wilmer-Hutchins get to the goal line and then they punched it in with sophomore quarterback Tamajae  McMillon. With about six minutes left in the first quarter the score now read 13-6.

The score was a huge momentum swing for Wilmer-Hutchins and then would come up with a turnover on the ensuing drive for Carter. Now suddenly WIlmer Hutchins had a chance to take the lead. A few plays later Tamajae McMillion would find Amos Rattler Jr in the endzone for a touchdown, but they would once again miss the extra point bringing the game to 13-12. Unfortunately for Wilmer-Hutchins, O’Ryan Wallace and the Carter Cowboys wouldn’t let the game stay that close. On the ensuing kickoff Wallace proceeded to take it back 90-yards for the return touchdown.

The score would be 20-12 heading into halftime.

Dallas Carter would bust this game wide open in the second half, scoring on their first drive of the half. Kaeden Landry punched in his second touchdown of the night and extended the Carter lead to 27-12. Despite struggling to tackle Jacob Cummings, the Carter defense wouldn’t allow WIlmer-Hutchins near the endzone again.

Senior Quay Robinson would put the final bow on everything, punching in the last touchdown of the night to help the Carter Cowboys take down the Wilmer Hutchins Eagles 37-12. Kaeden Landry would finish the night with 152 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and Cam Patterson finished with 130 total yards and a touchdown himself. Sophomore running back Damarion Boozer looked impressive with his 6 carries rushing for 56 yards.
