Denton Ryan Knocks Off Lake Belton 38-13 to Take Home Their Bi-District Crown

It’s week 1 of the Playoffs down in Texas and we already have crazy match ups all over the state. Tonight we are in Denton, Texas at C.H. Collins Stadium to watch the Denton Ryan Raiders host the Lake Belton Broncos. Denton Ryan is a household name up here in North Texas, and Lake Belton has stars Micah Hudson and Selman Bridges leading their squad. The Raiders have a lot of talent themselves including two stud offensive tackles in Ty Haywood and Marcus Garcia along with a handful of other kids with D1 offers.
Denton Ryan would get things popping off immediately as Braeden Mussett took a quarterback draw up the middle for a 55 yard touchdown run on the first play of the game. Just like that the Raiders were up 7-0 less than 20 seconds into the game. Their defense would come out strong too. Sophomores Uzziah Warmate & Errol West started off their hot nights getting after the quarterback and forcing Lake Belton to punt the ball. Not long after that Denton Ryan extended their lead with a field goal.
However once again Lake Belton’s offense would stall, and give the ball right back to Denton Ryan. Micah Hudson broke off a huge run to set up the Broncos inside Denton Ryan’s 30-yard line, but threw an interception on the very next play. Their drive would bleed into the 2nd quarter, but not for long. Braeden Mussett would once again take it himself, and score a touchdown with his legs.
Lake Belton’s offense finally found a groove though with two big strikes down the field to get them in the endzone. Micah Hudson was the receiver to get the Broncos on the board first, but they would unfortunately miss the extra point.
The two teams exchanged scoring drives before the half, with Lake Belton giving the ball up inside their own redzone for an easy Denton Ryan touchdown. However the Broncos quickly moved the ball down the field before halftime and brought the game to a 24-13 score at halftime.

Denton Ryan would keep Lake Belton out of the endzone for the rest of the night. Their rushing attack would be too much for the Broncos as they bled the clock out, and added another two scores to the board. Running backs Nemo Warmate & Tre’Vaughn Reynolds both had big nights and scored touchdowns to close out the game.
By the end of the game Denton Ryan had 12 sacks. Yes TWELVE sacks in one game. Sophomores Errol West and Uzziah Warmate both finished with big nights, having 5 and 4 sacks respectively. Micah Hudson would finish his final high school game with nine catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
