Five-Star Edge Rusher Jamonta Waller FLIPS from Florida to Auburn

Hugh Freeze has done it again, flipping another five-star from an SEC foe. Jamonta Waller announced Tuesday evening that he will be flipping from the Florida Gators to the Auburn Tigers. This is now the Tigers third time flipping a major commit from their third different SEC team.
Jamonta Waller is a five-star edge rusher out of Picayune Memorial High School in Picayune, Mississippi, and ranked as high as the 18th overall prospect in the Class of 2024 according to ESPN. Last season he recorded over 105 tackles, 11.5 sacks 24 tackles for a loss, and five pass deflections. He holds 22 offers from schools like Florida, Alabama, Penn State and more but took four visits to Auburn before making his commitment.

Back in June we saw Waller commit during a spree of commits for the Gators. Amaris Williams, Amir Jackson and Aaron Chiles all committed a couple days before Waller and skyrocketed the Gators 2024 recruiting class. Even with the decommitment they still have a Top-5 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, and a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball.
As mentioned earlier this is Auburn’s third five-star recruit they have been able to flip, all being from SEC powerhouses. The first was Demarcus Riddick back at the end of July who flipped his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs, despite the Bulldogs being the powerhouse they are. Not too long after that we saw five-star wide receiver and Alabama commit Perry Thompson announce he will be flipping his decision too. These are two of the Top-5 players in the state of Alabama and were committed to the two biggest powerhouses in College Football right now; and Hugh Freeze did that before even calling a snap for Auburn.
This class is now the 16th overall in the 2024 cycle, and with guys like Walker White, and DeAndre Carter also locked in, this class is looking very well rounded. White is one of the Top-10 quarterbacks in this class, and someone who has risen a lot over the past year and a half. DeAndre Carter is possibly the best interior offensive lineman in the country, and was considering schools like Georgia, Texas and Michigan State.
We could see Hugh Freeze land a Top-10 class in his first year with the Tigers, and that is without having that much success on the field. There are still a few big names that are considering Auburn, and you never know what Hugh Freeze can pull off. Who do you think would be next to commit to Auburn?
