Five-Star WR Tristen Keys Flips Commitment From LSU to Tennessee

Tristen Keys has flipped his commitment from LSU to Tennessee, delivering a massive recruiting victory for the Volunteers. The five-star wide receiver, ESPN’s No. 2 WR in the 2026 class, formally switched his pledge on August 28 after being committed to LSU since March. He is listed at 6-foot-3 and around 190 pounds, and he arrives in Tennessee already considered one of the top prospects in the country.
Keys starred at Hattiesburg High School in Mississippi during his junior season, catching 58 passes for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns, leading his team to the Class 6A state title game. His explosiveness, athleticism, and body control drew national attention, and his name has been floated in comparison to past elite receivers in college football.
Tennessee had been in consistent pursuit all summer. Keys visited multiple campus programs, including official trips to Auburn, Miami, LSU, and Texas A&M, but Tennessee’s coaching staff—especially wide receiver recruiters—continued to build toward this moment. Before the flip, Tennessee’s 2026 class was already loaded with top talent, and Keys’ addition pushes them even further. He joins blue-chip receivers Salesi Moa, Tyreek King, and Legend Bey in a wide receiver group that now stands among the deepest in the country.

The flip also impacts recruiting rankings. Tennessee jumped LSU in class rankings after Keys’ switch, and the Volunteers now have multiple five-star offensive commits—including quarterback Faizon Brandon. For LSU, it represents the loss of another top wide receiver in consecutive cycles—something many in Baton Rouge will see as a blow to their national recruiting momentum.
Going forward, Tennessee’s offense looks poised to be even more potent. Keys’ ability to stretch the field and make contested catches gives head coach Josh Heupel another weapon working with quarterback commits like Brandon and the rest of the Vols’ offensive corps. LSU, meanwhile, must regroup and chase other targets after coming up short in this one.
